Perfusion Related Services
Australian Blood Management offers a complete and comprehensive service provision solution for perfusion and extra-corporeal circulation related services.
ABM’s team of highly qualified & certified Clinical Perfusionists will provide and set-up all the equipment for the heart lung machine and manage the complete perfusion service required to deliver quality patient care safely and consistently according to best clinical practices.

Autotransfusion is the result of a process referred to as Intraoperative Cell Salvage (ICS), whereby a patient’s blood lost during surgery is processed, washed and returned to the patient.
Our perfusion services include
Cardiopulmonary Bypass Perfusion & Total Body Perfusion
Our Clinical Perfusionists have extensive experience in adult and paediatric cardiopulmonary bypass perfusion and related procedures, providing quality care whilst following evidence-based practice guidelines.
Regional Perfusion & Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC)
Regional perfusion is a technique utilised in the treatment of malignancy either in a specific limb or body compartment. Our skilled perfusion team is available to work in conjunction with individual oncology departments to ensure the provision of this specialised service.
Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) Counterpulsation
The intra-aortic balloon pump is a mechanical device that is used to decrease myocardial oxygen demand, increase myocardial oxygen delivery, and increase cardiac output. Our Clinical Perfusionists are available to provide this service pre-, intra-, and post-operatively.
Extracorporeal Life & Membrane Oxygenator (ECMO) Support
Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) refers to the advanced life support therapy used in patients with respiratory, cardiac or combined failure where standard medical therapy is insufficient. Our board certified perfusionists offer 24/7 extracorporeal life support services through ECMO staffing and/or support.
Extracorporeal Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (ECPR) Support
Extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) is emerging as a procedure to improve the prognosis of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest by augmenting vital organ perfusion through the implementation of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) during conventional CPR. ABM is proud to be supporting the complex process of protocol development and realisation of ECPR in Australia.
Veterinary Perfusion & Support
Our Clinical Perfusionists have expertise in the competent and successful delivery of veterinary perfusion services, specifically cardiopulmonary bypass perfusion, autotransfusion and platelet sequestration.
Contract & Locum Perfusion Services
ABM’s contract services offer the full complement of specialist perfusion equipment with a full-time staffing solution of highly skilled certified perfusionists that ensure the best and safest practices.

ABM’s locum services offer an all-inclusive, fully insured locum service on a fixed cost basis that will reduce the burden placed on the hospital staff and provide a refreshed work force of experienced, qualified perfusionists.
