Platelet Sequestration / Platelet Gel
This innovative process in surgical wounds and pressure sores involves the utilisation of a small amount of the patient's own blood preoperativley which our Autotranfusionists will place in a special machine resulting in a highly concentrated platelet gel.
This gel has been shown to greatly accelerate the healing process in surgical wounds, or pressure sores resulting in a significantly reduced patient stay.
This innovative therapy is being utilised in many surgical fields, including Cardiovascular, Neurosurgical, Orthopaedic and Plastics. The Platelet Gel is an autologous blood product that has demonstrated excellent haemostatic effects, reduced inflammation and enhanced accelerated wound healing.
